Course Content
The course consists of eight units covering a range of Health and Safety topics including: A general approach to managing safely understanding why incidents involving injury or damage occur applying management principles to Health and Safety problems.

To provide as introduction for managers and supervisors on how to manage Health and Safety in the work place.

It is also recognized by all parties that time can be erode both knowledge and skill. To overcome this, IOSH are now recommending that delegates who took the full IOSH Managing Safely course within the last three years should sit one-day re-certification course prior to the end of their three- year period. IOSH are recommending that those who took the full course more than three years age undertake the full four-year course.
Content of course
The course comprises eight core modules.
Module1 Introducing managing safely Module2 Assessing risks. Module3 Controlling risks. Module4 Understanding H&S responsibilities. Module5 Identifying hazards. Module6 Investigating accidents and incidents. Module7 Measuring performance. Module8 Protecting our environment.
Course Duration
The course is delivered over 4 days. An ‘in house’ course can be delivered over a period of time provided all 4 days are covered and the test is completed.

Course Aim
It’s designed to give managers all they need to know to help them handle health and safety in their teams. The flexible high impact program covers all the main health and safety issues, and includes a session tackling environmental management.
Examination Information
The course is assessed by:
1 A short written/objective multiple-choice paper. 2 A project, which takes the form of careful examination of your work environment and a risk assessment.
Delegates, who attend and successfully complete both the practical and written assessments, will be awarded the Managing Safety Certificate, issued by the Institute of Occupational Safety and health (IOSH) in the UK. The practical assessment must be completed in the delegate’s work place and submitted within two weeks of completing the course. A minimum pass grade of 70% is required for certification.
